Dec2020news

I’m excited to share 3 simple tools that help me celebrate the holidays AND keep moving forward.  Just scroll, click, learn and DO:)

#1.  90 Second Rule from Dr. Joan Rosenberg

How often to you feel overwhelmed, get distracted and regret how your day went? This tool is helping me have way less of those days. I’m honestly amazed at how game changing this has been for me.

There’s a bunch of science proving that when you take 90 seconds you can do better as a human on every level.  When I practice Dr. Joan’s simple formula (CLICK HERE) I get more done in my day, I make better choices, I am more patient and I sleep better.  Sounds silly and simple, but you really must check out what the 90 second rule is and exactly why every human should be practicing it daily

#2.  Cacao balls & Goldenmilk

These 2 keep me from diving into nighttime snacks I will regret later. In fact I just grabbed a cacao ball to hold me over for an hour before dinner and later this eve I’m definitely going to enjoy some goldenmilk. This will keep my mitts off the leftover pumpkin pie and ice cream 🙂 If you tend to be a nighttime nosher or imbiber – these will fix you up way better. They are delicious (seriously) and super comforting. In fact both will help you de stress and sleep better. CLICK HERE for the goods.

#3. This Fun NO excuse Home  Workout! 8 mins

I made this VIDEO  for Thanksgiving week, but you should keep using this anytime you need to squeeze in a workout and/ or quickly reset yourself (you will feel way better after just 3 mins, trust me) Plus you get to move and have fun with me!   CLICK here for my 8 min Home Workout video (no gear needed)

Bre’s 2020 Holiday Treats!

Decadent  (easy/no bake) Spirulina/Cacao Balls + Golden Milk

I’m a nightime nosher. When it’s cold and dark outside the cravings hit hard. But I hate undoing my workouts and healthy eating with desserts I crave. That’s why I keep these decadent cacao balls stocked and ready in my fridge. I grab one when I crave something sweet. They also hit the spot and help me sleep better.  That’s due to their nutrients: High in Magnesium, protein, Omega 3, B vitamins and anti-oxidants. Directions below makes about 25 two inch balls

•1/4 cup hempseed
•1 cup cacao powder (not cocoa! look for only 100% cacao ALSO rainforest alliance certified)
•4 tbsp “hawaiin spirulina”
•4 tbsp coconut oil
•6 tbsp raw honey
•2 pinch pink himalayan salt
•1/4 cup unsweetened flaked coconut, small flakes

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Mix throughly with clean hands and form into small balls. I roll them up into 2 inch diameter balls, wrapped individually in foil and keep them in the fridge. Perfect for anytime- with afternoon coffee to hold you over, pre-workout snack, before bed when you’re looking for something to nosh on.

These will keep your immune system up, boost your energy, calm your nervous system and keep you lean and fit. Happy Holidays!

African Almond Butter Soup

This is my Favorite fall soup recipe. Super comforting, filling + super healthy. Best part is you can easily modify to fit your needs. Recipe is below

Recipe:

  • 1.5 lb ground beef, organic grass-fed (optional)
    8 cup low-sodium vegetable broth
    4 cup water
    2 medium red onion, chopped
4 tablespoon peeled and minced fresh ginger
    8 cloves garlic, minced
    2 teaspoon salt
2 bunch collard greens (or chard or kale), ribs removed and leaves chopped into 1-inch strips
1 1/2 cup unsalted almond butter (chunky or smooth)
    1 cup tomato paste
Hot sauce, like sriracha (AKA rooster sauce)

Instructions: Fully cook the ground beef in a skillet pan – bout 8 mins over med, high heat. Set aside. Combine the broth and water in a medium Dutch oven or stock pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, then add the onion, ginger, garlic and salt. Cook on medium-low heat for 20 minutes. In a medium-sized, heat-safe mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter and tomato paste, then transfer 1 to 2 cups of the hot stock to the bowl. Whisk the mixture together until smooth, then pour the peanut mixture back into the soup and mix well. Stir in the collard greens and cooked ground beef
Season the soup with hot sauce to taste.
Simmer for about 15 more minutes on medium-low heat, stirring often.

** You can keep the ground beef separate and add right before reheating to best accommodate different people & needs.
