Grease the Groove!

VIDEO BELOW. This is THE tool you need if you want to get better at ANY movement. Push ups, squats, jump rope, listening.. literally anything!

GREASE THE GROOVE is basically – taking your goal movement then finding a level you can totally nail it in good form, then doing it often in good form… that’s it.

Basically it’s all about patterning in the way you want to move often. Then you can add intensity.  ONCE you’ve done it millions of time in great form.

Here’s my example. Below the video read my steps to do this on your own

1. Pick 1 movement (me= one arm push up)

2. Find the level you can do that movement 10x in perfect connected form (if you don’t know what that is – call me for a 30 min training session online, it’ll be worth it)

3. Practice that perfect connected movement at a light intensity 10 reps  (I’m working at 20% of my max)10 reps  3-4 times a day – one – 4 hours between

4. Intensify the load (work at 30-40% of the max) after 3 weeks

5. Trust the Process!!

Mood Meter App

THIS is a real game changer. After hearing Dr. Marc Brackett on Brene Brown’s podcast “Unlocking Us” I was floored. So many things he said rang true for me. The thing he said that really hooked me was that

” When we don’t know how we are feeling we 1. Become poor learners 2. Get less work done 3. Worsen our relationships”

That was enough right there for me. Before the podcast was over I downloaded his book “Permission to Feel” on Audible. The next day I got his App – the Mood Meter.  Here’s what this “feeling stuff” has been doing for me in the 2 months

  • 1. Lowered my food cravings / helped me eat less
  • 2. Got me to listen better to others (Huge in gaining more students & better relationship with my boyfriend)
  • 3. Helped me understand my humanness and ease up on myself – priceless!!

I strongly advise every human do this right now :

  1. Download Mood Meter (CLICK HERE ). Use it 3 times a day. When you feel unsettled and or snacky 
  2. Listen to the “Unlocking Us” Podcast episode below
  3. Keep using the mood meter – every day 3 times a day for a month

    Here’s what we covered

    1. Eat Foods that moved more and breathed well = Grassfed animals of the land and sea!!  Fish, Grassfed Beef, Lamb,
    2. Eat tons of Leafy Green Veg and Cruciferous Veg with dark colors = Broccoli, Kale, Red Chard, Spinach, Red Cabbage
    3. Use your muscles = Get moving – every day. Do at least 2 mins of simple moves before you first sit or open an electronic device. (Get blood moving, absorb nutrients for food, get out of thinking brain) . See me for bodyweight & kettlebell moves you can do anywhere!
    4. Take Fish oil & Vit D- we all need a little more sun and omega 3’s right now (I use Krill Oil – 1,000 mg daily)
    5. Sleep!  Help your body de stress and stay human:)

    Summer Feets! How to keep them happy

    Us humans tend to increase activity when the sun is out more. It’s when we don’t show our feet some love that they bite back. Here’s a video with easy moves to keep you from plantar fasciatis, calf, hamstring, back & shoulder issues. It all starts with the feet!  Use them, but also help them recover.

    Quick & Tasty Protein Salads For Busy Days

    One thing that gets me through super busy days is an easy protein salad.

    Watch my 5 min Video below on what exactly this is and how to easily make it happen.  Recipe and product info below video:)

    Perfect for summer afternoons!  Pair 1.5 cup of this with 3 cups of salad (red bell pepper, kale and spinach) OR seed crackers (Mary Gone Crackers) or scoop up with large slices of bell pepper, celery sticks or lettuce wraps. Keep the bread out, even if it’s GF.  You’ll feel better without it:)

    Each week I simply swap out the main protein source,  I keep the rest of the ingredients the same. This way we don’t get bored and our body’s stay super healthy with varied nutrients. See below for my core recipe, then pick one of 5 protein sources.

    5 cans of canned chicken, canned salmon, or tuna (CLICK for info on wild planet = best brand of canned) OR 14 Hard Boiled eggs OR 2lbs cooked chicken breasts chopped.

    • 8 stalks of celery thinly sliced
    • 1 red onion, diced
    • 2 tbsp of Primal Kitchen- spicy mayo CLICK for Info 
    • 4 tbsp of goat milk yogurt – plain CLICK for Info 
    • 2 tsp of mustard powder
    • 2  tsp curry powder/ turmeric ** feel free to use “gomasio” OR pink himalayan sea salt & black pepper

    open and drain canned meats/ fish OR Chop Hardboiled eggs OR Chop Turkey/ Chicken breast

    Put into a large bowl. Add all above ingredients. Mix well. Place 1 cup mix in small containers.  Enjoy with options above (crackers, toasted seed muffins, cucumber, celery, salad mix)

    Summer Drinking!

    We all love a good happy hour. Check out my video + 2 tips below to better enjoy your fav beverage + keep feeling strong and healthy.

    1. Separate your alcohol from your food- at least 30 mins.
    2. Look at what you have coming up tomorrow!  If you are gonna workout.. especially lift weights- Do not drink. Your body will be fighting an uphill battle. you will suck wind and feel weak no matter what you do.  If you have a light jog and moderate yoga work – have a glass before dinner.
