Jasyoga. Yoga that works in EVERYDAY life

We all know yoga is good for us. We know we should stretch more, drop some stress and maybe stop feeling all jacked up. So why don’t we do it more often? I mean it’s very definition is:

Yoga: a system of exercises for mental and physical health     We need that pretty much every day! But there’s no way most of us can fit in a yoga class more than twice a week. Here’s a few of the 10 reasons I came up

1. Don’t have enough time   It’s hard to fit in a 60-90 minute class time. Then there’s the time to get there as well as shower/ clean up time after. Could take up to 2-2.5 hours just to get in that yoga class.

2. Stinky and sweaty after  Yoga is typically in a warm to hot studio. Do you have time to fit in a class, go home shower and get on with your day like that? Many studios don’t have showers (or just one shower)  Often I can’t make a class simply because I can’t figure out how to get my own stink off after.

3. Can’t make the class times   Yeah there’s a lot of times, but none of them work for you.

4. Don’t know where to start  Yoga can look a super daunting to many of us. My lifter friends feel exactly this way. The thought of holding a position and not moving can make many Type A gym goers super anxious.

VIDEO Get a Grip for Tight Abs

Okay, so this stuff really works. Coolest part it’s super simple and cuts down on your gym time.

Turns out that if you grip something very hard (specifically with your hands or thighs) you will turn on your abs more.

Running is Overrated!

Many people think running is something all of us should do and enjoy it. Blech! I have to tell you, running is overrated.

And I ran varsity cross country and track in high school!

Now, I do totally understand that running is a great way to get some fresh air and makes it easy to get in some needed cardio.

But, if you simply can’t (injured, bad weather, dangerous routes) or if your body truly hates running.. whattya do?

I don’t know about you, but I’ve run into (pun intended) all the above issues before.

As a previous runner and certified personal trainer I am thrilled to give you some great news!

So, I’m about to head downtown (Spokane) for the Women’s March. While I made plans with friends to who up at the march, I also really wanted to opt out today.

It’s been a long week and getting in some veg out time at home was sounding much better.

Guzzling! Greens and Shows

So, my version a a perfect Sunday is filling myself with awesome stuff. I’m talking stuff that lifts me up and makes me smile. In my world that’s good ‘ol iron, flowing moves and amazing foods.

Then, I take it easy!  In fact I pretty much sit and watch movies the rest of my day. Ya gotta rest that greatness to make it all happen again tomorrow:)

Get the Goods!

GREEN SMOOTHIE

  • 1 cup frozen kale
  • 1 scoop “amazing grass” powdered greens
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 2 inches fresh ginger grated
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 Scoop protein powder (I love VEGA)
  • 1 date (pitted)

Blend that goodness, then settle in for some sweet shows:
