This is by far my MOST game changing podcast episode I’ve ever listened to.  If you’re into doing better in daily life and if you’re a human being ..you need to hear this episode.

This BROKEN BRAIN podcast episode is with Shelly Lefkoe of the Lefkoe Institute.  The Lefkoe Institute gets humans to finally stop screwing themselves over.

Shelly calls it –  “Breaking through Limiting Beliefs”

All I know is I’ve been practicing their steps and I’m screwing myself over way less. I’m moving forward in life on a lot of levels and daily life is Waaay easier lately- on every level.

THIS podcast episode  literally stopped me in my tracks. I pulled over the first time I heard it – And I’ve listened to it 3 times now.

I’ve been practicing the tips Shelly gave and it really is keeping me from Limiting Myself daily

Basically they make it easy to change your hard to change behaviors.  You know the daily stuff that is totally making you screw yourself over 🙂 Their goal is to help each human feel free. Freedom that comes when we STOP our limiting beliefs.

Here’s a quick summary to  entice you:

We screw ourselves up in life when we assign meaning to situations and when we stay in  old beliefs. Sally explains, in a super simple way how our beliefs and the meaning we put on things can totally keep us stuck and suffering in life .

1. WE assign Meaning –

Humans are meaning making machines, it’s what we innately do. It’s also something we do that fucks a lot of stuff up. Once we assign meaning – we have changed a simple situation into something bigger than it is- AND often much worse than it actually is. We assign drama to something

That is because our individual meaning come from our own BELIEFS

2. Beliefs ARE NOT TRUTHS!  – Shelly explains

The meaning we put on situations ALL comes from our own beliefs.  Beliefs are simply something we (each) SAW in our early years ( most often from our caregivers)  that was formed into a belief… something we sincerely hold to be true.

No parent is perfect and mine definitely showed me some weird stuff that I formed into some super LIMITING beliefs.

These 2 simple tips from Lefkoe –

1. DISSOLVE meaning you assign to situations

2. RELEASE old beliefs.

How exactly to “let go” so you can reach your goals.

You’ve probably had someone tell you at some point in your life:  “Just let it go” or “You gotta release that”

So how’s that gone for you?

I gotta say – “Letting go” is effing hard! Recently I wanted to punch some well meaning people in the face every time they told me, “ya gotta just let that go”

It’s a super hard thing to pry our stubborn brains of something that is keeping us from moving forward.. at least it is for me.

That’s why I was stoked when I found a super easy way that totally worked for me to ” Let it Go!”

Just so ya know – “Letting Go” will serve you in reaching ANY goal, because we free our minds to take on the hard challenges we may be struggling with. Doesn’t matter if it’s with your foods, workouts, work life, family life OR other stuff.  Try the below steps on anything that you’ve been butting your head against the wall about:)

HOW to Let IT GO.

  1. SHOW UP- Step up to your obstacle

  2. OWN UP – Come from a place of love and HONESTLY state how you feel

  3. MOVE THE F*** ON!!

This is best explained with a short story..don’t worry I’ll keep it brief.

Recently I was listening to my friend. James, talk about how he’s been bogged down with the news. World events, political climate.. basically stuff is getting to him and making him not do or be very good on a daily basis. James said

“I’ve been such and ass lately! Just the other day I was getting on the bus and totally bit this girls head off, I mean she DID totally cut in line, but I totally bit her head off. Once I heard myself I felt ashamed. She shoved her way to the front and I angrily stated “Do you NOT see the line!”. Everyone in line stopped and looked at me, She said “You don’t have to get so upset” I was immediately ashamed and hated what I had done.

After a few minutes, I calmed down and went over to her on the bus, she was early 20’s had big headphones in and I made eye contact with her, I sincerely said ” I am truly sorry for how I treated you”

She kept a neutral gaze and looked at me, but I knew she heard me.

Then I got off the damn bus

BOOM!  There it is. James states it so well

  1. SHOW UP- Step up to your obstacle

  2. OWN UP – Come from a place of love and HONESTLY state how you feel

  3. MOVE THE F*** ON!!

That’s it! It doesn’t matter if your obstacle receives you or denies you – it’s just you stepping up, owning up and moving on.

VIDEO! The #1 tip for a great holiday season

Okay – so I love the holidays, but maaan the social calendar can fill fast!

How do you keep up with all those meetups and parties? I know I can feel like I’m dragging myself from one thing to the next and just trying to keep up with it all.

Do you do that?

STOP! Stick to this simple rule – If it’s not a Hell YES! – It’s a Hell NO!

Face it – no one wants you showing up feeling obligated or exhausted. They invited you because they love the FULL you. So if you can’t bring that/ Can’t show up as your best self- then let them know! I mean they are your people, right?

SO dump the excuses, tell them you’re just not up for it and make a time to meet up some other time!

IF it’s something you KNOW you Really should show up for – and it’s a Hell No- then ask yourself this:  “Will I be better for going to this”

That’s exactly what I had to ask myself tonight before I head out to my divorce support group. It’s rainy, cold and I don’t feel like tlaking about feelings.. but will it make me better – Hell YES it Will! So I’m going.
