The Holidays are upon us! I love this time of year. So many events with awesome people. Everyone’s in a great mood… warm bevvies and cookies are out…
GULP! That’s where some of us start panicking. We wanna enjoy those beautiful, enticing treats that surround us – but we don’t wanna undo all the hard work we’ve put in with our
- Workouts
- Healthy eating
- Overall more healthy living- sleep, hydration, etc..
This is where we WANNA say ” It’s the holidays! Let go a little and enjoy” – right?!
Well, I don’t know about you – but I am sick of looking back at bad holiday photos.. you know the ones where you instantly look at yourself and think “Gross!” – Plus let’s face it – Do you really like feeling like you need a nap all the time and like you were poured into your pants?
This is seriously no bueno! I hate it when I my face is puffy, my neck looks big and I’m wearing “flowy” shirts to make me feel better about my belly roll. Thanks a lot holiday cookies and extra glass of wine!
So to help us all out – (Me, included ) I set up four simple steps (PLUS my fav party healthy appetizer- It’s suuuper easy and quick to make) that make it freakin’ easy to feel great AND love the way you look in all the photos:)
If you’re reading this and your inner 8 year old saying “I don’t wanna” But you KNOW you need to – Read THIS POST for some inspiration It’ll shut your whiney self right up.
1. Hydrate waaaay more –
Down at least 1.5 liters – that’s about 45 ounces withing your first 2 hours of waking up.This will knock down your sugar cravings and ramp up your metabolism (get you to burn more
2. Bump up your protein, healthy fats and greens.
Here’s an easy way to do this on the go. Pack this stuff on you every darn day
- 2 packets almond or cashew butter (Pnt butter causes more inflammation an isn’t as filling) + 2 Dr. Krackers – Seed crackers **if you need to stay full longer. Personally the nut butter packet is perfect for a couple hours.
- 1 RX Bar
- 1 packet amazing grass
- 1 baggie of cashews, unsweetened and currants (** optional – I do this to satiate my sweet tooth)
Guaranteed these snacks will save you! No more grabbing that baked good at the coffee shop or nose diving into a bag of chips/ cheese tray. When you get hungry – have either
1/2 the bag of nuts OR 1/2 the bar + Greens in water (bout 12 oz) – do the greens taste good.. NOPE!
But all ya gotta do is down it. Cool thing is, when you have more nutrients in your body (greens!) you will eat less and crave less. SO – 1 minute of drinking something not so tasty is totally worth it:)
3. Get more sleep
Sleep really is your #1 weight loss tool. When you get less you will eat more and eat way more not so great foods.
This is because your hormones get out of whack – specifically, you up the hormone Ghrelin when you up sleep- this will make you crave carbs and be hungry all day long. So – set your phone timer to ensure you get AT LEAST 7.5 hours of sleep, 8 Really is best!
Also – when you stay up later – you will always eat stuff you know you’re gonna hate on the next day. Don’t go there… Just go to bed!
4. Pick your ” Treat Nights”
Predesignate which nights you’ll “let go a little”. For example – you have that company party this Saturday.. great! Just set a limit, right now! Declare that you will have 2 glasses of wine OR no wine but 1 awesome cookie- that’s it! This way you can hit up those holiday parties, let go a little and know you’re not totally knocking yourself off track. My treat nights are Sunday and Friday (Friday is a glass or Malbec, Sunday is 1/2 of a HONEY MAMA)
