With colder, darker weather come those darn comfort food cravings.
This is just part of being human, as things get more wet, dark and chilly – you naturally will see out things that make you feel cozy and warm.
Stuff like soups, grilled cheese sandwiches etc..
If you’re like me, and your body doesn’t feel good (or look good) when you eat cheese or milk, this can feel like a bit of a bummer.
WELL prepare to be super happy! There happens to be a quick fix to make your foods exciting, creamy and taste cheesy again- WITHOUT the dairy.
It’s NOOCH. AKA Brewer’s Yeast.
In fact I’ using it to make a CREAMY Broccoli soup today and to add some awesome flavor to my otherwise boring Baked Kale.
If you don’t alredy know why NOOCH is the bomb, read below:) And of course share this with your friends. Even if you do eat dairy.. this is an awesome all natural booster food (packs a ton of nutrients, B vitamins, protein) that tastes fantastic
Read on for all the info on Nooch:) BUT ALSO – don’t miss out on my amazing creamy broccoli soup recipe(SCROLL TO END). SOOO freakin’ good!
NOOCH
Golden food dust that makes you more awesome on every level. Nooch or “Hippy Dust” is it’s nickname, it’s real name is “Brewer’s Yeast” or Nutritional Yeast
Since “Brewer’s Yeast” doesn’t sound super awesome, I’m sticking with nooch:) Especially since this stuff is indeed super awesome.
Here’s why
It makes things taste nutty and cheesy = awesome for dairy free/ health focused peeps who would love to eat something with cheese, but can’t.
It’s chock full of amazing vitamins that make you think better, build more muscle and stay healthy.
If you haven’t been using this stuff and you’re into looking great, being lean, strong and sounding super smart – ya gotta get in on this!
EXACTLY WHAT THIS IS:
Nutritional yeast is a food additive made from a single-celled organism, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae, which is grown on molasses and then harvested, washed, and dried with heat to kill or “deactivate” it.
It is inactive, so it doesn’t froth or grow like baking yeast does so it has no leavening ability. This is not a bread yeast – it’s the total opposite! It’s here for lean, strong, witty peeps like us:)
I love this stuff because it adds tastes great AND makes my foods taste cheesy, which I miss – since I don’t eat cheese.
This will quickly become your BFF, but especially if you are vegan or vegetarian that’s because it gives you those B vitamins and proteins you desperately need (these vitamins are usually found in beef, fish and poultry)
- Thiamine (Vitamin B1)
Riboflavin (Vitamin B2)
Niacin (Vitamin B3)
Pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5)
Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6)
Biotin (Vitamin B7 or Vitamin H)
Folic acid (Vitamin B9)
Here’s some easy ways to use it:
- Add a couple tablespoons to your popcorn, soups, smoothies, cooked veg (see my fav recipe below!)
It’s great and safe for the whole family.. even dogs! (I add a tsp to my dog’s food once a week to give him all those above nutrients – gives him a healthy coat as well)
