Meet Bre
Bre Bicknell is a Menopause Coach, NSCA Personal Trainer, SFG Kettlebell Strength Coach, Functional Movement Specialist, CIHC Health Coach and AASDN Nutrition Specialist.
It’s not about what happens to you… it’s about what you do with it.
I never thought I’d be in the fitness profession. I was 26 when I turned down the position of deputy sheriff. For 7 years I had intensely focused on serving in law enforcement, but everything inside of me screamed that I was in the wrong place.
Having no idea what to do next, I went to the weight room at my gym. Ever since I was 14 years old, lifting made me feel stronger. When I felt stronger everything felt easier. I dove into studying physiology and became an NSCA personal trainer three years later.
I loved watching the stress melt off my clients. Once they started to move and stepped out of their busy brains, they became more calm and centered. To me the body is a return to sanity.
At 29, My family had a crisis and I felt the impact of stress I couldn’t control. I wasn’t sleeping, or eating well and I was over exercising to cope with my anxiety. I soon sprained my hamstring, developed speech and vision problems.
Needing a resource, I turned to nutrition. I dove into studying how foods could help my nervous system and brain health.
I learned that having Lyme Disease at 9 years old had set my body and brain up for high inflammation. I studied anti-inflammatory foods and started feeding myself better. Within a week my vision improved, I started sleeping better and I could finish sentences.
Five years later I became a certified health coach and nutrition specialist.
At that same time I needed to manage my stress without pounding on my body. I turned to studying yoga and kettlebell training. I was amazed at how much stronger I felt and my improved cardio without doing any running or jumping. Four years later I became a Strongfirst Certified Kettlebell coach and fused yoga into my training sessions.
In 2014 I created a group fitness and nutrition program Body Breakthrough, in Seattle. For 3 years I taught women high strength workouts and simple nutrition to support muscle and keep up with busy days.
That led me to launched my own business and this site!
As my clients hit perimenopause I was thrilled to learn that high strength training is one of the very best things we can do as women to control symptoms. This made me study menopause further and specialize in ages 35-73.
I discovered that my previous struggles had given me the experience and resources that women struggling with menopause need. Stress management, anti-inflammatory foods, high strength workouts, mindset, recovery and empathy on how hard daily life can feel. For the last 10 years I’ve specialized in menopause coaching.
Now at age 45, I get the most joy out of seeing women take action to stop their suffering, feel more alive and age powerfully!
My other joy in life is spending time with my best friend, Chris, who became my husband in 2022.
He helps me smile big, feel it all and keep my heart wide open.
I’m so grateful that nineteen years ago I turned down a career in law enforcement. I got to step onto my own path and become the person I was always meant to be. Someone who hands the keys to others so they can free themselves.
