Shoddy sleep happens to all of us.
Even on those days where we’re not stressed, we get to bed at a decent time and we feel good. There’s lots of stuff you can do to help you sleep better (I’ll save that for another post)
But what the heck do you do when your alarm goes off and you’ve only gotten a few good hours of rest?
It sucks to know you gotta suffer through the day. OR DO YOU!?
I’ve got 3 awesome tricks that won’t TOTALLY undo shoddy sleep but they will definitely keep you from
1. Falling into brain fog and mindlessly cruising facebook
2. Not being able to muster the energy to get in your workout
3. Cancelling on your evening plans because NOTHING sounds like fun
4. Giving into that 3 PM mocha
Best part is – you can do these 3 things no matter where you are! In fact I’m doing all 3 today
You gotta drink lots of cold water to keep your energy and metabolism up.
Bad sleep knocks down your metabolism dramatically. Keep burning more calories and boost your energy with water.
Ever notice how your vision is blurry when you sleep poorly? Yup- hydration can fix that for you!
2. Get in MORE Greens
For busy days I make sure I have a couple amazing grass packets on me. (www.amazinggrass.com)
These lil guys are awesome. I just dump a packet in 10 ounces of water and down it. One in the AM after my workout OR before breakfast. The second one I down at 3 PM when i get that hankering for a coffee.
– basically this feeds your tired cells great nutrients and keeps your body and brain firing on all cylinders. You will also poop more (true fact) and that healthy elimination frees up energy!
3. Eat more protein
I grabbed a packet of Justin’s almond butter and added extra tuna to my lunch for this exact reason.
When you sleep less you WILL crave sugar/ carbs! You can kick that craving to the curb if you eat more protein.
Okay – so go get yourself some greens, down some protein and chug that water.
Oh! If you can get a couple meals of great leafy greens in then forget the amazing grass, but for many this is an easy fix.
